I purchased two of these, one for me and the other for my wife, to use when we abroad on vacation. Due to COVID, we have not been able to “field test” them and only use them in the house and infrequently, in the car. I haven’t conducted any scientific tests to determine the effectiveness of the UV light to sanitize the water but I offer my observations. The instructions are all but non-existing and confusing. I couldn’t find any useful information on the LARQ website either. Supposedly, these self-clean by “intelligently activating every 2 hours to keep your bottle fresh and stink-free.” Well, maybe they do but there’s no indication that they activate automatically every two hours. One would think that the blinking blue light rings would come on when activated as they do when you manually press the button to activate, but they don’t. On the good side, I’ve only charged the caps once and after six weeks, they’re still holding a charge. This might be because they’re not coming on every two hours, only when I manually activate them. The double walled insulation does a great job in keeping the contents cold and diameter of these LARQs are small enough to make them easy to drink from, a pet peeve that I have with my wide/hefty Yeti Rambler. I hope the sanitizing feature of these caps really work because the narrow top makes it a real bear to clean from the top. Not being able to use any charging cable, only the one that comes with these bottles is a real inconvenience and already a concern. Assuming the sanitization feature really works, these LARQs should pay for themselves (after COVID) in saved costs by not having to purchase bottled water in four or five years.

This is 2nd purchase, had one from 2019 still going strong. For a self cleaning product bought June this Yr should not be getting the taint shown . Bottle brush does nothing to move it. It was daily bottle so very annoying. There r now others like this available at less price Waiting to see what LARQ actually do as made warranty claim.
They r sending a replacement so warranty works, mind u three months old I’d expect that.

I like that this is a good volume bottle, great quality build and keeps liquid clean and cold. However, as someone claimed, the UV does NOT purify the water; it only disinfects. That is a huge difference.
What I do not like:
– The lid should have some grip like a knurled texture so it is easier to open/close when your hand is slippery/sweaty
– Perhaps the lid should have a handle or hook for easier carrying
– USB-C instead of micro USB (better yet, MagSafe port)
– Port cover so crap do not clog the charge port

Let’s be honest, the value of this thing is overpriced, but it does do what it says (I guess??)
In a predicament where you NEEDED some clean water and happen to have this bottle with you, It it better than nothing!
